Iran’s Trade with ECO Hits 9.75 Billion Dollars in 7 Months

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iran's trade with members of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) reached 12.63 million tons worth $9.75 billion during the first seven months of the current Persian calendar year (started on March 21).

Iran’s Customs Administration announced that the country’s exports to ECO members stood at 10.07 million tons worth $5.74 billion during the seven months which ended on October 22, showing a 42.24% and 4.69% decrease in terms of weight and value year-on-year, respectively.

Trade between Iran and the Economic Cooperation Organization’s member states reached 12.63 million tons worth $9.75 billion in the same period, indicating a 37.85% decline in terms of weight, but a 5.71% growth in terms of value compared to the last year.

Turkey was Iran’s main trade partner among the countries under review with 6.35 million tons worth $6.29 billion. It was followed by Pakistan with 2.2 million tons worth $1.26 billion and Afghanistan with 1.92 million tons worth $955.06 million.

Also, imports from ECO states hit 2.56 million tons (down 11.34%) worth $4.01 billion (up 25.33%).

Meantime, earlier reports said that Iran’s foreign trade increased by 10% in value in the first seven months of the current Persian calendar year (started on March 21).

Iran's trade exchanges in the seven months of this year surpassed 81 million tons worth $60.133, marking a 10 percent rise in value, Iran Customs Administration’s Spokesman Morteza Emadi said.

Iran exported 61.283 million tons of goods valued at $28.406 billion in the first seven months, he added.

The official stated that liquefied propane, methanol, liquefied butane, film-grade polyethylene, petroleum bitumen, liquefied natural gas, urea, iron and steel ingots, and light oils and petroleum products were the main exported products.

The mentioned products account for 41.9 percent of the total value of the exports, he noted.

China, Iraq, the UAE, Turkey, and India have been the five major destinations for exporting Iranian goods.
