Iran Manufactures Smart Drones for Virtual Tourism
“Smart tourism is the need of today's societies and we have designed drones that can fly for virtual tourism from thousands of kilometers away by combining physics and tourism,” Saman Keyvannia told ANA.
He explained that by using the drone, the tourist can sit at home and use the smart drone which has been stationed at a desired tourist spot to enjoy the attractions virtually but live.
“The advantage of the smart drone is the live nature of footages. In addition, our drones can be charged by fossil fuel at any place while we control their speed and altitude from thousands of kilometers away,” Keyvannia said.
“We can choose a number of sites in other countries to send the drones and when the drones are stationed in the place, they have the ability to display the tourist places live,” he added.
Tourism always involves physical movement between places, an activity that may be cumbersome, expensive, or even dangerous. Limited time and budget furthermore represent serious limitations to this popular past time.
Virtual tourism is a new paradigm that aims at reducing limitations by recreating real touristic venues in computers as 3D models. In the virtual tourism approach, the tourists can make use of available technology in order to result in a fully dynamic way of visiting touristic locations. Drones can be used to fly around at the target venues, and send a video they record live to a tourist that may be sitting at home, or walk along a treadmill.
