Speaking to ANA correspondent on the sidelines of Asreh Omid Event, Alireza Rafei Nasab said that "Vacuum therapy or negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is a method of removing fluid and infection from the wound to help it recover. A special piece of cloth is put on the wound and connected to a vacuum pump. This treatment method is a good choice for some patients, not all patients and is used if the doctor prescribes.”

Rafei Nasab, who is the managing director of Kian Verna Equipment Company, added that their company produces other devices along with the vacuum therapy device.

“Also in this regard, the device’s tank and polyurethane foam (thermal insulation) are produced in addition to the main product. We also produce transparent polyurethane adhesives that are like cellophane. These adhesives are used in medicine and are only imported from China due to sanctions. It has been almost 5 months since we registered for the import of this product, but we still have not been able to import it, and so far we have been unable to get the import license from the General Department of Medical Equipment, which is a subsidiary of the Ministry of Health,” he added.

Referring to the fact that the vacuum therapy device has two or three manufacturers in the country and there are several European and American manufacturers, he pointed out, "The neighboring countries and the Persian Gulf littoral states are in dire need of the device. They are not producers but consumers of the device and if we produce it, we can easily enter export phase. We are familiar with the issue of export and import, but unfortunately we are still struggling in terms of gaining the necessary patent and are still going through the legal procedures.”

The managing director of Kian Verna Equipment Company added that they have based their company in the Khomeini Shahr Branch of Islamic Azad University, which provided them with a good office for holding the meetings whenever they wish.

He added that talks are underway to provide other facilities to their company. “The support of growth center and Islamic Azad University is very good.”

“One of these supports is the presence of knowledge-based companies in the Asreh Omid Event held by Islamic Azad University, which will help to make the products produced by different companies to be introduced,” he further said to comment about the event.

The national Asreh Omid Event was held in late May in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla with the participation of 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research teams and startups.
