“This medical pillow, which is made from Calotropis procera, can treat the nervous vibrations in the head and body of a migraineurs. The fibers of the Calotropis procera plant, and also a kind of silk, which is softer than normal silks and that is obtained from that plant is used in producing this pillow. The medical pillow cover is made from this silk,” Farzaneh Sepahi, the presenter of the medical pillow told ANA on the sidelines of Asreh Omid Event.

The researcher said that the Calotropis procera is indigenous to Sistan and Baluchistan province in Southeast Iran.

She added that the pillow has proven to be effective in relieving the migraineurs and the tests have shown that they have found relief with it.

She added that the pillow can replace drugs and pain killers and simply cure their illness by using it while sleeping.

“After a certain period, migraines and nervous vibrations in the head slowly go away,” Sepahi underscored.

“This pillow has not yet reached the commercialization level. However, I have been given an office in the growth center of the Islamic Azad University, Sistan and Baluchistan branch, but I have not started the production of the pillow yet,” the researcher added.

“The Asreh Omid Event makes the ideas and products of companies like ours better introduced to people,” the researcher said about the Islamic Azad’s event.

She added, “currently, many people do not know that there is a plant called Calotropis procera in Iran. This plant has a lot of benefits and both its leaves and its roots are used to treat different kinds of diseases. Events like this makes more people familiar with the characteristics of Iran's indigenous plants, and the properties of these plants are introduced to people in them.”

The national Asreh Omid Event was held in late May in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla with the participation of 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research teams and startups.
