Iran's Giant Automakers Produce Nearly 360, 000 Cars in Five Months
"Two giant Iranian automakers (Iran Khoro and Saipa) produced 357,377 light vehicles including passenger cars and vans which showed 283 percent increase in comparison with the same period's production last year. In the meantime, incomplete production has decreased as much as 85 percent," the official said.
Manteqi further said that approval of importing regulations of the law on organizing the country's auto industry can be considered as one of the government's solutions to regulate supply and demand as well as final price in the market and transfer technology to the country as well.
"The Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade is obliged to pave necessary ground for the introduction of new and independent technologies of automobile production in the country in cooperation with the world's famous automobile manufacturing companies or as a joint investment with active local companies within the framework of the document of 20 years national vision,"
Iran Khodro branded as IKCO, is an Iranian automaker headquartered in Tehran. IKCO was founded in 1962 as Iran National. The public company manufactures vehicles, including Samand, Peugeot and Renault cars, and trucks, minibuses and buses. IKCO is a public joint stock company with the objective of creation and management of factories to manufacture various types of vehicles and parts as well as selling and exporting them. IKCO produces vehicles under 13 brand names.
SAIPA is another Iranian automaker headquartered in Tehran. The SAIPAC was established in 1965 with 75% Iranian ownership. The main subsidiaries of SAIPA Group are Saipa Diesel, Pars Khodro and Zamyad Co.
