Iranian Gov’t Paving Ground for Increasing Exports of Knowledge-Based Companies

The activity of knowledge-based companies in the international area and the supply of products to the global market requires a higher level of preparation, both in terms of the product and the capabilities of the company, and this should be fulfilled with more sensitivity. Also, the single-product nature of many knowledge-based companies and the production of a small number of products required by a specific industry by a company has turned the independent activities of knowledge-based companies in the global market into a serious challenge.

In export baskets of knowledge-based products, efforts have been made to use an industrial classification that indicates the field of application of the products. This separation is based on the common and well-known commercial application areas as well as the supply potential of knowledge-based companies and includes 20 different industries whose specifications will be presented in 20 booklets.

Each basket introduces related knowledge-based companies and products that enjoy export potentials which is based on a two-layer arrangement and can be very useful in areas related to the global markets.

Knowledge-based companies in Iran are specially active in the technological fields of ‘biotechnology, agriculture and food industries’, ‘advanced drugs and products in the field of diagnosis and treatment’, ‘advanced materials and products based on chemical technologies’, ‘advanced machinery and equipment’, ‘tools, medical supplies and equipment’, ‘electricity and electronics, photonics, telecommunications’, ‘information technology and computer software’, ‘commercialization services’ and ‘cultural, creative, humanities industries’ and present different products and services to the society and industries.

Among the 7,735 knowledge-based companies active in Iran, most firms are active in areas of ‘electrical and electronic hardware, laser and photonics’, ‘information and communication technology and computer software’ and ‘advanced machinery and equipment’ and the number of companies active in ‘cultural, creative industries, humanities’ and ‘commercialization services’ are less than other firms.

Deputy Head of the Innovation and Prosperity Fund of Iran Siavash Maleki said earlier this year that Iranian knowledge-based companies marketed their products in 70 countries, and in some global markets have overtaken European and American companies.
