Nabipour Herbal Medicine Company announced that it has produced a completely herbal ointment for the treatment of infectious and chronic wounds such as diabetic wounds.

Fatemeh Nabipour, the managing director of the company, told ANA that the product is an herbal ointment for the treatment of women’s infections.

The product has passed the clinical test stage and has reached the final stage, she added.

We have also produced another herbal ointment for the treatment of infectious and chronic wounds such as diabetic wounds, the prototype of which has been made and is in the clinical testing phase in order to obtain production permits.

Compared to its counterparts, this ointment has the advantage of being 100 percent herbal. So, it does not have any special toxicity or side effects.

Therefore, it can be used in a shorter period of time without the need to use antibiotics or insidious relapses, Nabipour pointed out.

Iran ranks fourth in the world in the production of science in the field of traditional medicine, and the remarkable achievement will improve in the coming years, Nafiseh Hosseini Yekta, the director of the health ministry’s Persian medicine office, said.

Over 17,000 books have so far been published about Persian traditional medicine, which has been recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO), she noted.

Iranian traditional medicine strongly focuses on prioritizing health maintenance and disease prevention over treatment.

Iran's Vice President for Science and Technology Rouhollah Dehqani Firouzabadi said earlier this year that the revenue of the exports of medicinal plants is estimated at $700 million.

He stated that 1,800 types of 2,500 medicinal plants are endemic to Iran, adding that Iran with its own strong history of traditional medicine and a rich ecosystem of medicinal plants has a huge opportunity for increasing its share in the national and global market.
