Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Manufactures Different Products to Treat Infertility Problems

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iranian researchers at a knowledge-based company stationed at Pardis Science and Technology Park succeeded in production of special equipment to treat infertility problems.

“Our company is active in production of medical equipment and making infertility products like breast marking marker (for breast cancer treatment), breast guide wire (for breast cancer treatment and surgery), embryo freezing straw (for infertility treatment), IUI catheter (for infertility problems), ovarian follicle aspiration needle (for the treatment of infertility diseases) and sperm isolation kit,” Mahsa Tahayee, one of the researchers of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.

Noting that these products were imported in the past, she said, “Now thanks to the efforts of the researchers of our company, the know-how for production of these products has been indigenized and they are used in hospitals, infertility centers and the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Researchat at one-fifth of the price of similar foreign samples and with the same quality.”

“Our company has had 30,000 successful transfers during its eight years of operation by making these products,” Tahayee said.

In a relevant development in July, another knowledge-based company in Iran had also successfully produced DNA extraction and purification kits from saliva and a variety of cell culture equipment and consumables for infertility treatment in vitro fertilization (IVF) laboratories.

Seyed Abolfazl Motahari, the CEO of the knowledge-based company, pointed to using blood cells as the most common way of DNA extraction, explaining, “This method is difficult for elderly patients, pregnant mothers, infants and young children, and sometimes it takes place with difficulty. This difficulty is much greater for patients whose blood clots quickly or those who have anemia.”

Motahari went on to describe the insulated chamber incubator that is used in biological laboratories for the cultivation and growth of live samples such as cells or microbes and for incubating eggs and spermatozoa (sperm), saying, “A desktop incubator consists of 11 separate culture chambers and a larger heating chamber.”

According to him, the PLT01 device has a heating system using fluid heat transfer, which is used to melt and heat liquids in laboratory bags or bottles that are intended for medical transfer or injection into living tissues, adding that these fluids are usually whole blood, blood products, plasma and other injection solutions.

He stated that one of the requirements for blood transfusions and medical products or injections in living tissues is heating the bags containing these frozen liquids, adding, “Currently, traditional and non-scientific methods are used to heat the bags containing frozen liquids in most labs, therefore, the existence of a device that complies with global standards is very important in this regard. The PLT01 device has a water tank that is heated by the heating element, the heated fluid (water) goes into the cushions adjacent to the laboratory frozen bags and causes them to heat and melt.”

“The bags of blood, plasma, HPC or laboratory drugs are placed between the two heating pads of the device and with the help of the continuous flow of heat created by the pumps and the temperature control system, they reach the desired temperature that can be injected and used for the patient,” Motahari continued.

He futhur pointed to the INC03 incubator device, saying, “This device is an insulated container that is used in biological laboratories to cultivate and grow living samples such as cells or microbes. By controlling humidity, temperature and the combination of gases in the air such as oxygen and carbon dioxide, it provides suitable conditions for the growth of living microorganisms.”
