WIPO Figures Show Iran's 11th Ranks in Application Design
Speaking to local Iranian media, Amir Abbas Mohammadi Koushki, the Secretary General of the National Invention and Innovation Team of Iran said that WIPO indicators show that the percentage of Iranian Internet users who shop online increased from 5% in 2010 to 25% in 2023, and Iran has been ranked 11th in the world in application design in the WIPO 2023 report.
“According to this report, among 86 countries, the Netherlands with 92% of internet users who shopped online in 2023 was in the first place and the United Kingdom was in the second place with 92% in 2023, Sweden with 90% and Denmark with 88%, stood in the third and fourth places, respectively. China was in fifth place with 80% in 2023,” he said.
“With 25% of internet users who shop online, Iran ranked 66th in the world in 2023, which has improved compared to previous years,” Mohammadi Koushki said, noting that the percentage was 15% in Iran in 2019.
He praised the high capabilities of Iranian programmers and computer experts in the field of information technology (IT).
Emphasizing that startups and technological businesses play an important role in the development of e-commerce in Iran, he added, “These companies can help improve infrastructure and increase the efficiency of electronic services by providing innovative solutions.”
He pointed to the innovation in payment services as one of the other impact of startups on the development of businesses, adding, “Startups operating in the field of financial technology can solve the problems in financial transactions and gain the trust of consumers by developing electronic payment solutions and digital wallets.”
