A knowledge-based company was established in 2022 with the aim of producing a variety of diagnostic kits for use in various industrial fields in Iran. The company’s activity focused on producing detection kits and accurate counting of microbial contamination in various industries such as water and sewage, oil and petrochemical, cosmetics and hygiene, detergent, medicine and food with a new, upgraded and cost-effective technology with easy and fast use based on lab-on-a-chip (LOC) technology which was developed by the researchers of the company and registered as a patent.

“The micrometer kit is a multi-purpose product that can be used for all types of samples, be it liquid or solid that contain substances with strong, weak or no biocidal properties. It is designed for microbial analysis of all surfaces from hospitals to equipment and food production halls and clean rooms. It is suitable for microbial testing of special products such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and oil-based products,” said Sara Shahbazi, the director of research and development of the knowledge-based company Riz Sanjesh Aria (Aria Micrometer).

“The bacteria detection and counting kit is used in various industries, and it was produced for the first time in the country, which detects and counts bacteria very quickly and without any need for special skills. When industries do not have the opportunity to discharge their batch tanks, these kits are being used,” she added.

According to her, microbial tests usually take time, but by using these kits, the standard time of the method is reduced something between one third or half, and they enter the next stage much faster.

Shahbazi pointed to quick water purification kits among other products of their company and explained how such kits operate, saying, “These kits are used in emergency situations where for example, the search and rescue teams, armed forces, or environmental activists do not have drinking water.”

Stating that the water purification kits produced in their knowledge-based firm are similar to the water purification kits made by the US Army, she added, “We have been able to localize them, even though there is no detoxification effect in the American kits, while we have added this feature to our kits. In addition to disinfection and sediment removal from particles, we can also perform detoxification and provide a higher reliability factor to the customer, during which the purified water becomes drinkable at a rate of up to 90%.”

“The production cost of this product is one-third or one-fourth of similar foreign-made models,” she went on to say.

She said that the country needs something between 20,000 to 30,000 kits per month which the Aria company has the ability to meet that need.

Shahbazi concluded that their products have received a warm welcome in domestic market, adding, "That is why we have not thought much about exporting them. However, bacteria counting kits have a high potential to be exported to countries such as Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan and Russia. So far, we have not exported anything yet, but we are consulting to be able to do this soon.”
