With the spread of the coronavirus, we managed to produce a drug that could cure the patient in three to five days, Mehdi Golabi Deilamqani, the designer and manufacturer of the colon cancer diagnosis kit and the antiviral drug, said.

When the coronavirus began to spread, we were working on producing medicine to deal with the virus. On the one hand, this drug should be a medicinal plant, and on the other hand, it should not have supplements or side effects, so that it can be taken with other drugs.

The drug was both antiviral and anti-inflammatory, he said, adding that in order to deal with the Covid-19 virus, we conducted clinical tests and received a positive response to the extent that it not only had an effect on the Covid-19 virus, but it also had a positive effect on other viruses.

"It halved the length of treatment, that is, the patient was treated within three to five days," he pointed out.

Golabi Deilamqani made the remarks on the sidelines of Islamic Azad University's "second step of revolution" under the title of Asreh Omid Event.

The event was held in Tehran's Mosalla from May 29 to June 1, 2022.

It aimed to exhibit new achievements and products in the technological and innovation arenas in line with opening new windows towards strengthening the idea of creating ground for knowledge-based businesses at the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Azad University.

Some 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research centers, and startups took part in Asreh Omid Event.

"The kit is designed in such a way that for the first time it is able to detect colon cancer with 98 percent accuracy in less than 10 minutes," the researcher stressed.

"By designing the colon cancer diagnosis kit, we embarked on designing liver, uterine and human papillomavirus (HPV) cancer diagnosis kits as well," he concluded.

It should be mentioned that import of pharmaceuticals has declined in Iran by 91 percent, which shows the capability of the country’s pharmaceutical industry, Mohammad Reza Shanehsaz, former head of the Food and Drug Administration, said last October.

Today, all medicine used in the treatment of coronavirus are produced by domestic manufacturers, he added.

A total of 227 knowledge-based firms are supplying medical equipment for health centers across the country, according to the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.
