Iranian Experts Produce Disposable Electrodes for Electrocardiography Devices
“We started our activity for the production of disposable electrodes of electrocardiography with a team of specialists a year ago and after six months, we indigenized the production line of the product,” said Amir Hossein Ariannia, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.
“At present, in addition to importing the product, eight Iranian companies are also producing the electrodes, and our product enjoys the high quality of foreign samples,” he added.
“Disposable electrodes are used as an interface between the human body and the electrocardiography device, and they are applied in exercise tests and play a special role in intensive care units and checking the patient's vital signs,” Ariannia explained.
The disposable ECG electrode is used for ECG or other biopotential measurements. It is composed of several adhesive electrodes, using nonwoven fabric material - a kind of breathable paper - cotton or PE and foam with medical hypoallergenic adhesive.
Iran is currently exporting medical equipment to 63 countries, including the European, Asian, and South American states, Director-General of the Iranian Food and Drug Administration (IFDA) for Medical Equipment Affairs Rouhollah Mazinani said last year.
Nearly 45 percent of the country’s requirements in the field of medical, dentistry, laboratory, clinical, hospital equipment, and related industries are produced inside the country in line with the policy of reducing imports, Mazinani said.
