Iranian Nano Firm Produces Industrial Filters with High Absorption Power
“Our company has been producing industrial filters with high capability to absorb particles and high lifespan for two decades,” said Amir Hossein Taqavi, the managing director and founder of the knowledge-based Nano Fanavaran Khavar company.
“The efficiency of filters used in the country's industry has been significantly improved by using nanotechnology,” he added.
“These filters are used in various industries like those which produce steel, copper, aluminum, lead and iron, foundry, plaster and tile industries, food industries like plants which produce pasta and vegetable oil and even household appliance manufacturers,” Taqavi underlined.
In a relevant development in May, a knowledge-based company in Iran had also produced special air filters containing nanofibers which increase the absorption of dust and reduce the depreciation of parts in power plants.
An air filter is a tool used to protect power plant parts from damage by dust particles, pollution and other harmful particles in the air. Nanofibers with less thickness and more specific surface area than normal fibers have many applications in filtration, and electrospinning is one of the important and effective processes in the production of nanofibers made from synthetic and natural polymers.
Electrospun fibers are used to improve the filter’s performance and efficiency. This technology, while increasing the efficiency of dust absorption, does not cause a large pressure drop. Electrospun fibers have a diameter of less than 100 nm and cover the surface of the filter paper uniformly. The material of these nano fibers is usually polyamide.
Improvement of filtration efficiency by reducing the size of the holes, increasing the lifespan of the filter by using surface filtration and using nano fibers made of polyamide are ammong the most important features of this filter.
