“Our product is used in veterinary medicine applied in treatment of animal mammary diseases. Mammary disease affects many livestock farms and impose a significant loss on the farmers and herders  because the milk of the animal suffering from the disease should be discarded for two weeks and it take antibiotics for one month,” Seyed Mohammad Mousavi, the managing director of ‘Nano Fanavar’ company, told ANA.

"The existing products are based on iodine, but our product is based on nanoparticles and is practically safe. Its antibacterial effect is twice that of the iodine sample, and its price is one third of similar products," he added.

Mousavi said that the necessary licenses and permissions have been taken from the relevant organizations “and we are now in the stage of industrial production”.

Bovine mastitis is the persistent, inflammatory reaction of the udder tissue due to physical trauma or microorganisms infections. Mastitis, a potentially fatal mammary gland infection, is the most common disease in dairy cattle worldwide. It is also the most costly disease to the dairy industry.

Milk from cows suffering from mastitis has an increased somatic cell count. Prevention and control of mastitis requires consistency in sanitizing the cow barn facilities, proper milking procedure and segregation of infected animals. Treatment of the disease is carried out by penicillin injection in combination with sulphar drug.
