Iranian Scientists Dredge Offshore Oil Wells in Assalouyeh
“Reclamation and dredging of offshore oil wells was carried out by the technology unit of the university,” Omid Arqeysh told ANA.
He added that the knowledge-based and technological companies stationed at the incubator center of the Islamic Azad University’s Gachsaran branch have succeeded in signing cooperation agreements with the petrochemical companies and other related industrial firms related to oil and gas.
Arqeysh said that after these agreements, one of the knowledge-based companies stationed at the center could carry out reclamation and dredging operations at the offshore oil wells in Shirino region of Assalouyeh economic zone at a temperature of 66.7 degrees Celsius and humidity of above 95 degrees.
The Iranian petroleum ministry announced in November plans to entrust the country’s companies with the revival of low-production oil wells.
Iranian companies will remain in charge of works at low-production wells where output hardly exceeds dozens of barrels per day, said Mohammad Esmayeel Kefayati, who leads Iran’s PetroPark, an Oil Ministry company responsible for innovation and technology projects.
“Based on plans, domestic technology-based companies will revive these wells and no foreign company has been considered for the job under any circumstances,” he added.
