School Student Team in Iran Makes Water-Based Omega-3 Nano Supplement
Zafar Namazian, the head of the young and elite researchers club of the Islamic Azad University’s Yasouj branch, announced the production of omega-3 nano supplements by a student team.
Noting that that the existing omega-3 tablets are oil-based, he told ANA, “What this student team did in the laboratory was making water-based medicine that is absorbed faster by the body and those who need this vitamin absorb it and recover faster.”
Namazian said that the male student team of Sama primary school in Yasouj, majoring in chemistry and nanotechnology, won the first place in the festival of student projects of young scholars with the title of ‘omega 3 nano supplement project’.
He noted that the most important specifications of omega-3 are regulating heart rate, lowering blood pressure, reducing platelet aggregation and preventing blood coagulation, increasing good cholesterol, brain and nervous system health, specially in people with MS to reduce the pain caused by joint inflammation.
Omega-3 fatty acids are ‘healthy fats’ that may support your heart health. One key benefit is helping to lower your triglycerides.
Specific types of omega-3s include DHA and EPA (found in seafood) and ALA (found in plants). Some foods that can help you add omega-3s to your diet include fatty fish (like salmon and mackerel), flaxseed and chia seeds.
