Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Unveils New Drug for CL Disease

TEHRAN (ANA)- A knowledge-based company in Iran unveiled a new medicine for the treatment of ulcers resulting from cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) disease on the sidelines of the INOTEX exhibition.

Payandeh, the managing director of the knowledge-based Behpad Teb Iranian, elaborated on the activities of his company, saying, “The scientific background of our company is the result of three decades of research focusing on drugs and supplements that strengthen and regulate the human immune system, in diseases like cancer, and infectious and inflammatory diseases.”

He underlined the unique features of the medicine to treat cutaneous leishmaniasis disease, adding, “Our product is a type of topical ointment that has been produced with the 30-year technical know-how gained by the company's specialists. This product topically has a germicidal effect on the wound and can strengthen the immune system.”

“Currently, the treatment available for this disease is the injection of glucantin in the wound site which is very painful and annoying. But, leish G1 medicinal product has a strengthening effect on the immune system in addition to the germicidal effect on the wound site and heals the wound scar,” Payandeh said.

leish G1 drug has been produced as a result of numerous cell, animal and human studies, which is used with new formulation and effective ingredients to treat the wound of the cutaneous leishmaniasis disease, he noted.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is the most common form and causes skin lesions, mainly ulcers, on exposed parts of the body. These can leave life-long scars and cause serious disability or stigma. About 95% of CL cases occur in the Americas, the Mediterranean basin, the Middle East and central Asia.

The 12th International Innovation and Technology Exhibition (INOTEX) was inaugurated at Pardis Technology Park on May 09.

INOTEX aimed to introduce products, facilitate partnerships and provide various insights on the latest global competitive prices, quality standards, developments, scientific findings, and economic-technological ideas.

The four-day event that gathered a large number of Iranian and foreign business people, technologists, industrialists, university students, professors, and researchers is hosting almost 450 companies.

Pardis Technology Park is located around 20 km East of the capital city of Tehran.
