Iranian Researchers Resolved to Utilize Guar Gum in Oil Industry
A knowledge-based company in Iran has started conducting researchs to produce guar gum which can be utilized to resist againt corrosion in oil industry's pipelines.
Guar gum powder is one of the prior natural ingredients that can be profitable in the oil industry.
Pipelines are used to extract the oil from the ground. As the oil has water content, it can create corrosion inside the pipelines.
The guar gum powder has several properties that are capable of eliminating corrosion.
Meanwhile, guar beans, also known as cluster beans, have a large endosperm that contains large amounts of galactomannan gum.
When guar seeds are ground and mixed with water, they become a thick gel that is eight times thicker than corn starch.
The gum is used as a thickening agent in food, seasonings, and cosmetic products, as well as in industrial drilling processes.
Previously, it was thought that India is the habitat of the plant, but recent studies showed that guar grows also in areas such as Sistan & Baluchestan in Iran.
The gum produced from guar is the best biopolymer compound because the plant has rheological properties.
