Iran to Hold Expo of Knowledge-Based Products of Food, Pharmaceutical, Medical Equipment Industries

TEHRAN (ANA)- An exhibition of knowledge-based products in the field of food, medicine and medical equipment is due to be held in Tehran late in February.

The first exhibition of the knowledge-based health products will be held at Imam Khomeini's mausoleum in Tehran on February 27-28 with participation of several manufacturing companies.

The two-day exhibition which aims to support knowledge-based production and introduce the country's capabilities and advances in the field of high-tech data-x-items and products will be held in the presence of the high-ranking Iranian health officials.

Different pharmaceutical data-x-items and medical equipment produced for the first time in the country will be unveiled during the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Iran has gained self-sufficiency in production of different types of drugs and medical equipment in recent years.

In December, the Incubator Center of Tehran University of Medical Sciences unveiled 60 new pharmaceutical products in a ceremony participated by Iranian Health Minister Bahram Einollahi.

Addressing the ceremony, Seyed Hamid Khoyee, the head of the Incubator Center for the Development of Pharmaceutical Products affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences, said that most of these drugs are available in the market and were presented to the patients.

“The Incubator Center for the Development of Pharmaceutical Products has produced 120 important pharmaceutical products exclusively since its establishment 20 years ago,” he added, noting that the first high-tech medicine in the country were produced by this center, among which are Factor VIII drugs and blood products.

Khoyee noted that the Center produces 11 drugs exclusively, saying, “$671 million worth of pharmaceutical products were exported by this Center last year.”

During the ceremony, the brain angiography department of Shariati Hospital was also inaugurated and the second angiography machine of Baharloo Hospital's heart center started operation.
