Iran Localizes Production of Delicate Surgical Blades
Shahryar Homayoun Farmanesh, the managing director of a knowledge-based company, said that his company has localized production of surgical blades with 60 nanometer thickness.
"Producing surgical blades, in spite of the blades' simple shape, actually needs an advanced technology. Four technological processes are needed to produce a surgical blade. One of them is heat treatment process of steel," Farmanesh said.
"Normally, CNC machines' productions enjoy one hundredth of a millimeter accuracy while thickness of surgical blades' tip is 60 nanometer which cannot even be seen by normal microscopes so electronic microscopes should be utilized to see such delicate blades," he said, adding, "Currently, only six companies around the world are producing surgical blades and Iran is a new member of the surgical blades production group."
"Another eye-catching product of my company is 'blood pumping machine'. In many cases, normal way of blood injection cannot be done because the blood includes red blood cells which may be broken while injection. So presence of a blood pumping machines seems to be necessary in medical centers," Farmanesh said, adding, "Iran-made blood pumping machines comprise the same quality with those which are made by the US and Austria but its price is half in comparison with the foreign ones."
