Iran Gains Self-Sufficiency in Production of White Fused Alumina
“The material we produced is white fused alumina. The raw material of this product was available inside the country, but there was no furnace capable of melting it. The country's need to this material was met through imports. We imported more than 30,000 tons, the value of which was about 40 million dollars per year,” Alireza Zamani, the manager of Noavaran Kouhsar Sadid company and a graduate of plasma physics, told ANA on the sidelines of the 22nd International Paint, Resin, Coating, Composites and Plating Industries Exhibition in Tehran.
“Given the fact that we have been working on this field for years, we enjoy the know-how about high temperature furnaces and we gained the know-how for making these furnaces in less than a year,” he added.
“The plant to produce white fused alumina was launched for the first time in the country with completely indigenized know-how and all equipment and devices are designed and manufactured by the Iranian experts,” Zamani said.
White fused alumina is a highly pure form of aluminium oxide which is suitable for use with stainless steel and aluminium.
This iron-free, reusable blasting medium is angular, brittle and hard. It has a powerful abrasive effect on the surface being blasted. White fused alumina belongs to the group of fused alumina.
