The laboratories were officially opened on October 14, 17 and 20, respectively. The inauguration ceremonies were attended by Hossein Afshin, Iran’s vice president for science, technology and the knowledge-based economy.

Quantum technology has emerged as a strategic field worldwide. Progress in this area depends on advances in fundamental research, specialized training and access to sophisticated laboratory facilities.

The new laboratories are designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. They will allow students and researchers to observe, measure and investigate quantum phenomena firsthand.

The facilities are also expected to broaden access to specialized equipment and provide students with more opportunities for hands-on learning. They aim to strengthen universities’ capacity to train specialists needed to advance quantum science and technology.

According to Press TV, a key feature of the laboratories is their emphasis on direct experimentation. Rather than relying solely on theoretical instruction or computer simulations, students can operate laboratory equipment, measure quantum phenomena and analyze experimental results.

The laboratories will support a range of advanced experiments. These include generating and detecting single photons and photon pairs, investigating quantum entanglement, testing Bell inequalities and studying two-photon interference.
