Iran tops IMSC 2026 with four gold medals and team championship
(Tehran Ana)- Iran's national mathematics olympiad team claimed first place at the 2026 International Mathematics Competition of Shanghai, earning four gold and two silver medals to lead the overall standings.
Iran's national mathematics olympiad team secured the overall championship at the Fourth International Mathematics Competition of Shanghai (IMSC 2026), finishing first among participants from 49 countries.
The six-member Iranian delegation captured four gold medals and two silver medals, placing ahead of Poland and Brazil in the final team rankings.
The winning team comprised Arian Zandi, Arsha Azizoddin, Seyed Amirhossein Tayeb, Alireza Sharifi, Radin Nik Eghbali, and Ali Joonbakhsh Najafabadi, whose performances propelled Iran to the top of the competition.
Following their success at IMSC 2026, the same group of students is set to represent Iran at the 2026 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), which will be hosted in Shanghai, China.
