China and Russia Hold High-Level Talks on Iran Conflict and Key Global Crises
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met and consulted with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in Beijing. Lavrov stated that the current international situation faces intense turbulence, with the damages of unilateral hegemony intensifying, the global governance system undergoing profound changes, and the cause of peace and human development facing serious challenges.
Quoted by Xinhua News Agency, Wang Yi noted during the meeting that in the face of a complex and unstable external environment, under the personal care and strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Russia relations have remained stable, and cooperation in various fields remains strong and resilient.
He further noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation. He also pointed out that this year is the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan.
The Chinese Foreign Minister added that Beijing and Moscow must implement the important consensus reached by the presidents of the two countries and elevate the bilateral strategic partnership of coordination and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields to a higher level.
Stating that both sides should enhance their cooperation within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations, he added that taking the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as an opportunity, both sides should implement the consensus reached at the Tianjin Summit and support Kyrgyzstan in successfully hosting this year's summit. The two countries must jointly maintain the process of unity among BRICS nations and protect the legitimate rights and interests of the Global South.
Wang Yi also called on both countries to continue maintaining strategic coordination on important international and regional issues, work together to practice multilateralism and international ethics, and jointly advance the process of world multipolarity.
Lavrov stated that Russia is willing to work with China to maintain close high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation, and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results. He noted that the current international situation faces serious challenges, and some countries are trying to form "small circles" to contain Russia and China.
The Russian Foreign Minister called on both countries to well-coordinate with the series of global initiatives proposed by the Chinese side and the vision of the Greater Eurasian Partnership and the Eurasian security architecture proposed by the Russian side.
He urged for maintaining coordination and cooperation in the multilateral arena and in international and regional affairs to protect their national interests and jointly preserve the security and stability of the international system.
