Iranian Firm Produces Automated Degradable Microneedle Device for Skin Treatment
This innovative technology, which is an efficient alternative to painful injections, can play a role in vaccination, skin cancer treatment, and even cosmetics and health products.
The startup has succeeded in proving the efficiency of the device on a laboratory scale and successfully producing a microneedle patch with a 4x4 array. The team is trying to complete the development phase and complete the process within a year to prepare the product for entry into the industrial scale.
The unique features of this device distinguish it from other existing methods. Reduced manufacturing steps, ease of use, high scalability, and a reduction in production cost by up to 50 percent are among the advantages of this technology.
The technology team of this project is also working on building a desktop prototype (MVP) of the device, which in the next step will develop an industrial prototype with export capabilities.
In a relevant development in November, experts at an Iranian knowledge-based company had also produced an intravenous injection training arm for injecting and collecting blood from a child.
“Child intravenous injection training arm is placed in the category of medical and health equipment, medical educational equipment and testing equipment and therapeutic necessities, medical, diagnostic and therapeutic software and physical training software and it is used dermally and subcutaneously in the training of child intravenous injection and child venous blood collection,” said Mehdi Azizi, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.
“Also, for the first time in Iran, we have made adult intravenous injection moulage which enjoys a smart design and high-quality materials, and compared to foreign samples, it has a very low price and high quality,” he added.
“This product has eight main veins - similar to the anatomy of the body - silicone skin with the ability to puncture at least a thousand times without leakage, silicone veins with the ability to puncture at least 500 times without leakage, artificial blood for feedback to the student, washable hand trunk and spare parts,” Azizi explained.
