Deputy Minister: Qatar to Manufacture Products in Iran
“Qatari investors will produce goods needed by Qatar will invest in Iran and the produced goods will be exported to their country,” said Peymanpak, who is also the head of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization (TPO).
He also announced preparation of a road map for the development of trade between Iran and Qatar and reaching a $3bln balance in mutual trade, and said, “A major part of this road map is related to re-exports so that we can use the capacity of Qatar to export our goods to other countries.”
Peymanpak also said that Iran will export 250 tons of foodstuffs and agricultural products per day to Qatar during the FIFA World Cup.
Iran has already started some of the shipments to Qatar according to the agreement between the two countries, he said, adding that boosting trade with neighbors, including Qatar, is among the main approaches of the current Iranian government.
Peymanpak had previously said that trade ties between Iran and Qatar failed to be favorably developed due to problems like the lack of appropriate customs and transportation infrastructure, which have been partially resolved.
