Tehran to Host First ‘Knowledge-Based Iran’ Event

The ‘Knowledge-Based Iran’ event will provide an opportunity to carefully analyze the achievements, challenges, and opportunities ahead for the innovation and technology ecosystem in the country and is expected to be as a milestone in the development of technology and innovation.
In addition to a general review of the state of the knowledge-based ecosystem, the annual provincial planning report for this ecosystem will also be unveiled at the event which can provide a clear insight into various challenges and achievements.
Also, during the event, supporting institutions and top knowledge-based companies will be honored, and the Knowledge-Based Ecosystem Monitoring and Observation Virtual Center will also be introduced.
An official said in February that nearly 10,000 knowledge-based firms are active in Iran, adding the firms export over $2.5 billion annually.
Reza Bakhshi Aani, the deputy for the development of the knowledge-based economy at the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, made the remarks, saying that Iran has nearly 10,000 knowledge-based firms, and their sales performance this year has set a new record, though further growth is expected.
He added that nearly 250 trillion rials (Iranian currency) of these sales came from high-tech products.
Bakhshi Aani also noted Iran’s knowledge-based firms have exported around $2.5 billion worth of products this year, including nearly $500 million in high-tech exports.
An Iranian official said in December that the products made by the Iranian knowledge-based companies accounted for 5% of the country’s exports share in the past Persian calendar year (ended on March 19).
