Iranian Researchers’ Project Wins Title in Int’l Urban Management Festival

The project was carried out by researchers at Isfahan University and sponsored by the Isfahan Municipality Planning and Human Resources Development Office.
“In the first step, theoretical studies and a review of domestic and foreign experiences in areas related to the elderly were conducted. Then, the research team collected information through field visits and local conversations with residents of District One of Isfahan city. Group interviews were also held with active elderly people in Isfahan and meetings were held in the presence of managers, academic community, and executive activists in the field of aging,” said Mina Keshani Hamedani, the scientific director of the project.
“These steps led to the extraction of a conceptual framework for the needs of the elderly in the form of components of an age-friendly city,” she added.
“In the final step, a conceptual design model for the Isfahan Senior Citizens' Community Center was developed with an emphasis on spending leisure time. Then, various scenarios for the operational plan and architectural requirements of this center were presented to serve as an executive guide for the future project implementers,” Keshani Hamedani said.
