Iran-Made Purification System Provides Easy Access to Arsenic-Free Water in Rural Areas
The device uses nano-absorbents to remove arsenic from water and provides consumers with arsenic-free drinking water without any waste. These devices, which are designed for use in rural areas and outside the distribution network, can be used without electricity and do not require any chemicals.
The adsorbent used to remove arsenic is a type of iron nanostructure that has a high capacity for removing arsenic.
The filters used in these equipment have the ability to absorb two common types of arsenic compounds soluble in water. These filters have an absorption rate of 15 milligrams of arsenic per gram of adsorbent granules per liter of water in deprived areas. Nanometer-sized arsenic adsorbents have had a significant impact on improving the adsorption performance of this product compared to the non-nano product.
In a relevant development in 2023, Iranian experts at a knowledge-based company had also succeeded in settling the problem of water purification in drought-hit areas.
“The main challenge of water purification is the separation of suspended particles, therefore, the researchers of our company started to obviate the challenge by making new model of hosings,” Hashem Pasban, the technical manager of the knowledge-based company stationed at the Islamic Azad University’s Bojnourd branch, told ANA.
“Due to severe water scarcity and tensions in some areas of North Khorassan province, the water used by the people of this area had turbidity and suspended particles up to 20 microns; therefore, to solve the main challenge of these areas, we manufactured a special water purifier,” he said.
Noting that the water purification devices in the market are practically useless without electricity, Pasban said, “Our company produced water pre-purification devices made of steel 304 due to its high resistance to rust and ability to separate suspended particles in water up to five microns, which cannot be seen with the naked eye, and was able to solve this big challenge.”
“This device enjoys the capability to purify water from 6 to 14 cubic meters per hour. We also design and produce the relevant hosing for pharmaceutical industries, swimming pools, sugar and juice factories, etc. This product is a cost-effective water purification device which does not need electricity,” he added.
