Official: Iran Ready for Cooperation with GECF to Develop New Technologies in Oil, Gas

TEHRAN (ANA)- Head of Iran's Petroleum Industry Research Institute Azim Kalantari Asl underlined preparedness to cooperate with the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) member states in the upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors.

Kalantari Asl made the remarks during a visit by the GECF ministerial delegates to the research center, stressing that key areas for collaboration are gas reservoir exploration, enhanced recovery technologies, gas storage systems, and CO2 capture and utilization.

Other potential fields include advanced chemical management, flare gas recovery, mini-LNG technologies, helium and blue hydrogen production, petro-refinery design, energy optimization, and professional training programs, he added.

Delegates toured the institute's downstream facilities, laboratories for gas, nanotechnology, and catalysts, and upstream units focused on enhanced oil recovery (EOR/IOR), petroleum engineering, and geosciences.

The GECF is an intergovernmental organization currently comprising 19 Member Countries of the world's leading natural gas producers are Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela, Angola, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Mozambique, Malaysia, Norway, Peru and the United Arab Emirates are observers. GECF members together control over 71% of the world's natural proven gas reserves, 44% of its marketed production, 53% of the pipeline, and 57% of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports across the globe. It is headquartered in Doha, Qatar.
