Iran-Made Processed Pasta Reduces Blood Sugar, Helps Children's Growth
“By adding algae to pasta, its nutritional value increases because pasta contains carbohydrates, starch and protein and is not that rich in minerals, while algae are very rich in vitamins, nutrients and minerals and are very useful in increasing children's growth and the strength of the immune system, reducing cholesterol and blood sugar,” Farid Amidi, the managing director of the company stationed at the incubator center of Islamic Azad University’s Tabriz branch, told ANA.
“This also increases the nutrients in pasta, and the athletes who have a carbohydrate diet can consume this pasta,” he said, adding when pasta contains spirulina, vitamins and minerals are also absorbed.
“Spirulina pasta is very beneficial for the elderly and children who are in the growth age and need minerals, so all walks of lide can use the product, because minerals are a need of everyone's body,” Amidi said.
Spirulina is the dried biomass of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) that can be consumed by humans and animals. The three species are Arthrospira platensis, A. fusiformis, and A. maxima.
Cultivated worldwide, Arthrospira is used as a dietary supplement or whole food. It is also used as a feed supplement in the aquaculture, aquarium, and poultry industries.
