Iran-Made Portable Water Purifier Uses Solar Energy
“The company is active in the field of renewable energy and the synthesis of various nanoparticles, nanocomposite membranes for water purification systems, the nanoparticles used in the production of gasoline from methanol and the nanoparticles applied in polymer lithium batteries,” Farshid Kianfar, the managing director of the knowledge-based ‘Pishgam Fanavaran Movaffaq Omid’ company, told ANA.
“We have succeeded in building a water purification device with a portable solar panel, which in the conditions of war is also appropriate,” he added.
In a relevant development last year, another knowledge-based company in Iran had also succeeded in manufacturing a portable water purification device that can separate 99.5% of pathogenic agents from water.
“We succeeded in producing a water purification device with the capability to remove pathogenic agents which can be used for surface water purification,”Reyhaneh Zaker Alhosseini, a senior expert in material engineering and material protection of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.
Noting that the new device separates all airborne particles, bacteria, viruses and pathogenic agents from contaminated surface water, she said, “These pathogens are removed from surface water like lakes, rivers, ponds or hot springs with a single purification step by filters mounted on the purification device.”
Zaker Alhosseini said that the water purification device does not need any electricity, adding, “This device weighs approximately 20 kg and can provide drinking water for 2,000 people with a flow rate of 500 liters per hour. The filters used in this device can be re-washed by using 5% of the purified water.”
She underlined that the device is very efficient and economical and produces high quality water, adding, “Also, it can remove and purify all pathogens from water at a rate of 99.5% by using physical methods without adding any chemicals.”
