“A germinator device (growth chamber) provides an environment in which factors like light, humidity, and temperature are controlled to create optimal conditions for seed germination,” said Yousef Jalili, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.
“Germinators are a type of refrigerated incubator that also provides temperature and humidity,” he added.
Noting that the body of the device is made of steel sheet and highly resistant electrostatic epoxy paint, Jalili said, “This device also has a highly advanced and precise digital controller system (microprocessor) and is programmable, and the controller system of this device has many features, including the ability to control it from anywhere in the world via the Internet.”
“This product has movable shelves, an inner glass door, a humidity and temperature generation system, a fluorescent lamp, and an air circulation system to ensure uniform temperature and humidity inside the chamber,” he added.
In a relevant development in 2023, a professor of molecular genetics at Islamic Azad University (IAU) had designed and developed a kit to detect the rate of transgenicity and genetic modification in seeds and seedlings imported from overseas.
“The GMO detecting kit has been produced to detect the rate of transgenicity and genetic modification in seeds and imported seedlings," Abbas Doosti, the professor of molecular genetics at the Islamic Azad University (IAU)-Shahr-e Kord, in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, said.
He added that a genetically modified organism (GMO) is an animal, a plant, or a microbe whose DNA has been altered using genetic engineering techniques.
According to the researcher, the kit to detect the products which have been modified transgenically and genetically is of great help to increase safety of food stuff.
Also, the imported transgenic seeds can be evaluated for the degree of transgenicity and the amount of genetic modification before planting in the country's farms.
