Rayeesi made the remarks on the sidelines of the 71st meeting of the Eastern Mediterranean Region Office (EMRO) of the World Health Organization in Qatar.

"Relations between the two countries in the field of health are proper and growing,” he said during the meeting, adding that Tehran and Doha enjoy good capacities in the fields of health infrastructure, disease control, digital health system and other areas.

“We can increase these capacities by developing cooperation,” Rayeesi underscored.

“Coronavirus showed us that for countries to be healthy, other states should also be healthy and disease-free,” he added.

Rayeesi suggested that Iran, Qatar and other interested countries should cooperate in the field of infectious disease control since the infectious patients can be controlled by early disease diagnosis and information exchange.

The annual meeting of the member countries of EMRO is one of the most important regional events in which ministers of health and high-level representatives of the 22 Member States and territories of WHO’s Eastern Mediterranean Region, as well as representatives of partner organizations and civil society meet to discuss priority public health issues, make decisions, and regulations.
