Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Designs Surgical Management System
Alireza Ahmadian, the managing director of the knowledge-based company, called the CompoTM model surgical navigation system a comprehensive surgical navigation system for neurosurgery and otolaryngology, spine, jaw and face surgeries.
“This system enables surgeons to confidently perform complex surgical procedures and experience surgical navigation systems in their simplest form,” he said.
Ahmadian underlined that CompoTM has a wide medical application that covers various types of surgery from simple biopsy to complex surgery.
“This system makes it possible to succeed in complex and dangerous surgeries that previously had high mortality. Also, in the field of neurosurgery, the surgical navigation system has different applications, including deep brain stimulation (DBS) or tumor dissection,” he added.
Iranian experts in June 2021 had also conducted the first remote surgery on a dog by using the fully home-made robot, making Iran the second country in the world after the US with the capability to develop surgical robots.
The robot has a surgical console that the surgeon can control and guide the surgery remotely by standing behind it and using two robotic arms.
Also a monitor has been placed next to the console that shows the image of surgery for surgeon clearly. The surgeon uses this system to control the surgery with a pedal and two robotic arms.
