Iranian Researchers Produce Anti-Earthquake Bed
Abolfazl Faramarzi, the initiator of the project and managing director of the Iranian technology company said in an interview with ANA that he developed the idea of making the quake-proof bed at the incubator center of Islamic Azad University, Azadshahr Branch.
“I started my activity in the field of welding in 2018 when I was 20. Then, various ideas came to my mind one of which was the design and production of quake-proof beds,” he said.
“I finished designing the bed for about a year and produced the prototype. At the same time, I registered the company and after going through the administrative procedures, I established it as a technology unit and started making a commercial type of it. By the end of 1402 in the Iranian calendar (March 21, 2024), the first commercial product of quake and debris-proof bed was produced.”
"In this type of bed the goal is to create a fortified shelter. When the earthquake strikes, vibration is transmitted to the hydraulic pump system through sensors attached to the wall, and within three seconds the jacks open and create a shelter. In this bed, there is also a place to store supplies including foodstuff and other essential items."
