Iranian Researchers Resolved to Treat Psychological Disorders by Medicinal Plants
On the sidelines of Asreh Omid exhibition held by the Islamic Azad University in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla, Abbass Hamzawi, head of “Body and Psych Institute” told ANA that their think tank is a psychology center which is active in the field of cultivating medicinal plants for treatment of psychological disorders.
“The idea we have come up with for physical and psychological treatments is to use medicinal plants in Bushehr province [in the Southern part of Iran with hot and humid climatic conditions] and we think that all kinds of psychological disorders can be solved with this method,” Hamzawi said.
“We introduced some medicinal plants that can be produced and cultivated in Bushehr region and studied their medicinal and therapeutic effects on psychological disorders on a case-by-case basis, and then the idea of the formation of medicinal plants was carried out,” the head of Tehran-based think tank belonging to the Islamic Azad University- Bushehr branch also said.
He further pointed to the medicinal plant products’ availability in the market now, saying, “We have offered to put them on the market. Given the fact large pieces of land the Islamic Azad University has but have remained unused, we have taken a piece for ourselves to grow medicinal plants. We have created a workshop for packaging in the corridors of the university and finally bring medicinal plant products to the market.”
Hamzawi added that they have entered cooperation in the field of R&D and carried out activities with Arsha Diego Company based in Karaj, adding, “Our scientific research is carried out under the supervision of this company's laboratory.”
As regards Asreh Omid exhibition, the researcher pointed out it should have been held much earlier than now.
He said that similar exhibitions have been held by the developed countries previously, adding that knowledge-based companies and startups have played a very important role in the development and advancement of countries such as China.
The national Asreh Omid Event was held in late May in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla with the participation of 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research teams and startups.
