Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Designs Distillation Tower
“Designing and building a distillation tower with rotating conical trays is one of the activities of our company. SCC (spinning cone) tray distillation towers operate continuously and are able to separate volatile compounds from the suspension stream,” Mohammad Taqi Akbari, the managing director and founder of the knowledge-based Behin Essans Avije company, stationed at the incubator center of the Islamic Azad University’s Khomeinishahr branch, told ANA.
“Low pressure drop, low energy consumption, high extraction efficiency, short retention time, very high separation speed, separation at low temperature, low chemical decomposition, aroma and flavor management, the ability to carry feed containing solid particles, use in fruit and juice processing industries, tea, coffee, seasoning and replacement with common distillation towers are the advantages of this device,” he added.
Akbari noted that construction of this type of towers was monopolized by the Italian companies in the past, adding that his company managed to produce it for the first time in Iran.
“Extraction from the milk thistle plant with Rapid Solid-Liquid Dynamic Extraction (RSLDE) system and production of silymarin for use in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and health industries are among the future plans of our company,” he underlined.
Distillation is one of the most important and most commonly used methods of separation and is based on the distribution of components between two liquid and gas phases.
In fact, distillation is one of the most common ways of separating materials from one another due to the difference in boiling point. Distillation is a physical process for the separation of objects with boiling temperature.
