Iran Records 39% Growth in Exports to Pakistan
The spokesman of the Trade Promotion Commission of Iran’s House of Industry, Mine and Trade said that Iran’s export of non-oil products to Pakistan recorded a 39% increase in value during the last year of 1402 in the Iranian calendar (March 21,2023-March 19, 2024), compared to the year 1401 (March 21,2022-March 19, 2023).
Latifi said that Iran exported more than four million tons of non-oil products to Pakistan worth over $2 billion, indicating a 23% and a 39% increase in weight and value, respectively in comparison to 1401.
The economic official added that more than 554,000 tons of products, valued at over $673 million, were imported into Iran from Pakistan last year, registering a 26% and a 33% decrease in weight and value, respectively compared to a year before.
"The main reason for this decrease last year was the increase in domestic rice production in the country and the lack of need to import this product from countries like Pakistan and India like in the previous years," Latifi explained.
The spokesman went on to say that the officials of the two countries have targeted $5 billions for bilateral trade, noting that, effective steps have been taken in this regard.
