Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Uses Nanobubbles for Higher Production in Agricultural, Aquatic Sectors

TEHRAN (ANA)- The managing director of an Iranian knowledge-based company active in the field of nanotechnology said that the company’s experts have applied a nanobubble system for the agricultural and aquatic industries.

“We produce and commercialize the nanobubble system which settles one of the most important challenges of industries involved with gas and fluids. Some industries deal with mixing gas in liquids, for which the nanobubble system can be a solution,” said Aref Dadgostar.

He explained that in the field of agriculture, the company’s focus is on greenhouse irrigation, where they can increase the amount of oxygen in the irrigation water with the nanobubble system which improves the root structure, adding that the absorption of nutrients by the root is higher with this method and the plant will grow more efficiently quantitatively and qualitatively.

“In the aquatic sector, we can inject oxygen into water with the highest efficiency with this system and distribute oxygen throughout the pool; therefore, the fish do not have the stress of absorbing oxygen in the water and have a better life in the pool which will increase the production three times,” Dadgostar said.

Earlier reports, in March, also said that a nanobubble generating machine produced by one of the knowledge-based companies in Iran not only improves productivity in fish farming ponds, but also improves quality of agricultural products by improving calcium absorption in plants.

“Our knowledge based has produced nanobubble generators. These generators can dissolve oxygen and various other gases such as ozone in a nano form for disinfection and purifying wastewater,” said Saeed Mokhberi, one of the researchers of the Iranian knowledge-based company.

“This product is used in both aquaculture and agriculture. In aquaculture, the machine will increase the population of cool-water fish species by 2-3 times, while it will reduce electricity consumption by 70%,” he added.

Mokhberi mentioned removing the unpleasant smell of fish and improving the quality of farmed fish by making ponds healthier as another advantage of the machine, adding, “This generator will improve the conversion rate of food to protein, control the growth of bacteria and prevent diseases.”

“In the aquaculture industry, the two problems of supplying oxygen to the water and the amount of nitrogen caused by the remaining food and fish waste emerge, which cause water pollution….this system is up to 85% efficient compared to the previous systems, whose efficiency was up to 18%.”

With regard to the applications of the machine in agriculture, he added, “This machine in the agricultural sector increases the amount of oxygen in the water used for irrigation. When the oxygen supply to the plant's roots increases, it causes nutrients to be easily absorbed by the roots. Calcium is one of the essential substances for the plant that is not easily absorbed by the plant.”

“To increase calcium, calcium-containing fertilizer is given to the plant, but the calcium is not absorbed by the plant, and this system makes the plant to absorb the calcium it needs. Absorption of calcium in the plant strengthens the cell wall, which will increase the shelf life of the product (crops),” the researcher concluded.
