Iranian Company Produces Home-Made Raw Materials for Infant Formula
“At present, we are producing the basic raw materials of infant formula and we have been able to produce nearly 80% of the raw materials of the milk powder inside the country,” said Bahram Mehrdad, the production supervisor of the company.
“We have been able to produce and indigenize the two main ingredients of milk powder, namely baby skimmed milk powder and 90% demineral powder, which is known as D90 in industry. D90 constitutes about 50% of infant formula and skimmed milk constitutes about 20%-30% of infant formula,” he added.
Noting that the products are based on the national and international standards, Mehrdad said, “We are expanding our equipment so that we can supply most of the raw materials for milk powder production to the Iranian companies.”
In a relevant development in late 2022, an Iranian company based in Isfahan Science and Research Town succeeded in production of milk enriched with antibodies which creates immunity against viral diseases, including Covid-19, and is effective in their treatment.
“Several decades of experience in research and teaching in the field of common viral diseases and working in the specialized laboratories of the European Union states gave us the opportunity to develop a product to increase immunity and treat certain viral and bacterial diseases,” said Hassan Nili Ahmadabadi, the managing-director of the company.
“Using this product in the digestive system inactivates the virus or bacteria against which the antibody has been produced. Given the positive results of tests on this product, we managed to obtain an industrial production license from the Iran Food and Drug Administration (IFDA). This antigen and pathogen resistant milk is considered a completely new product,” he added.
Nili Ahmadabadi stated that given the presence of antibodies in the special milk, it acts highly quickly and creates high mucosal immunity in non-infected people, noting that the product also reduces the rate of transmission of the virus in carriers and infected people.
“This product is completely safe for people and does not have any side effects. Those who are lactose intolerant can also drink it in several sips. Clinical trial phase one, two and three of this product has been conducted under the supervision of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences and it has succeeded to obtain two ethical codes and three clinical trial codes. The remarkable thing about this product is that it can produce antibodies against any pathogen in the digestive system,” Nili Ahmadabadi said.
