Economic Official: Iran’s Non-Oil Trade with Neighboring Countries Hit 50 Billion Dollars
Rouhollah Latifi, the spokesperson for the trade promotion commission of Iran’s House of Industry, Mine and Trade said that “The value of traded goods between Iran and 15 neighbors registered a 1.8% increase from March 21, 2023 to January 22, 2024.”
He noted that 79,982,360 tons of goods, worth over $49.8 billion, were traded between Iran and 15 neighboring states in the first 10 months of 1402.
“53.4% of the weight and 57.2% of the value of the country's 10-month exports were to 15 neighboring countries of Iran,” the economic official said.
“In the 10 months of this year, 6,151,744 tons of livestock, fishery, agricultural and food products worth $3, 909,648,708 were exported to the neighboring countries, which includes 91% of total weight and 80% of total value of exports, indicating that the main destinations of these types of products were neighboring countries,” he added.
In this 10-month period, Iran exported more than 60 million tons of goods valued at over $23 billion to the neighboring states, Latifi said, adding that Iran imported more than 19 million tons of products worth over $26 billion in that period, showing a %53.4 and %57.2 growth in weight and value, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
Latifi said that “Iraq with the purchase of %7.2 billion, UAE with %5.2 billion, Turkey with $3.5 billion, Pakistan with %1.7 billion and Afghanistan with $1.5 billion were the top five export destinations for Iran among the neighbors".
He further said that Iran imported $17 billion, $6 billion, $1.5 billion, $778 million, and $527 million worth of products from the UAE, Turkey, Russia, Oman and Pakistan, respectively.
