Iran to Open 2 Innovation, Technology Houses Overseas

TEHRAN (ANA)- Amir Hossein Mirabadi, the Head of the Center for International Science and Technology Interactions at the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, announced the launch of two "innovation and technology houses" in other countries by the end of the Iranian year calendar (March 21, 2024).

Saying that two innovation and technology houses will be launched by this year’send in the Iranian calendar (March 21, 2024), Mirabadi said, “The capabilities of knowledge-based companies not only promote the country's scientific prestige, they will also strengthens the country’s bargaining power in international negotiations.”

He said that domestic knowledge-based forms are flourishing in Iran in line with the guidelines of the Supreme leader, adding, “Gradually, the necessary ground for the playing a great role on the part of the private sector in the economy is laid and necessary attention to the empowerment of the private sector, privatization, etc. has been paid.”

He added that in line with the Supreme Leader’s directives, the presence of experts, technologists and knowledge-based companies on the international stage has increased.

Stating that the innovation houses are a platform for knowledge-based companies to play a greater role on the international stage, Mirabadi said, “We at Iran House of Innovation and Technology (iHiT)) in Tehran host a high-ranking delegation every week headed by high-ranking officials such as the vice president of the Algerian parliament, the foreign minister of Nicaragua, the president of Cuba, the prime minister of Syria, the speaker of the Vietnamese parliament etc.”

The Iranian official said that each of those countries have special potentials and during the short visit that their delegations pay to Iran, they offer attractive cooperation which open new opportunities for the growth of the Iranian knowledge-based firms.

Further hailing the capabilities that the Iranian knowledge-based companies have strengthened year after year, he said, “Around 20 years ago, knowledge-based companies were mostly startups that operated in the form of small teams, and as time passed, these teams grew and became companies, became small and medium-sized firms and gradually they were able to enter the international markets, particularly they have experienced significant growth in the last two years.”
