Iranian Researchers Develop New Portable Water Quality Detection Device
“This device operates like a portable spectroscopy (spectrometer), with the difference that by installing a smart application on the user's mobile phone, all the data received from the pollutant spectrometer can be observed and analyzed,” Kamal Shirzad, the managing director of a knowledge-based company based in Science and Technology Park of the University of Tehran (UT) told ANA.
He pointed to the technological advantages of the product, adding, “By portable, we mean that in times of crisis, when there is no data and information available, all the measurements necessary to detect the minimum standards of drinking water can be done very quickly.”
Shirzad said that it is a very simple application that is really easy to use for the users and it is designed by the programming team in our company, adding, "It can only be installed for the Android operating system for the time being.”
“The software operates with the mobile phone camera, in a way that the software is connected to the device and through the link it connects with the mobile phone, it analyzes the images and finally tells the user how polluted the water is,” the director of the company went on to say.
