Pakistan to Embrace Modern Technology to Improve Health Sector
"The advent of modern technology in the health sector is an exciting time for patients in Pakistan, healthcare providers, as well as the government," the prime minister said while addressing a seminar on health technology.
Highlighting various initiatives the South Asian country has been taking to advance its healthcare system, Kakar said Pakistan is ready to take advantage of modern technologies for enhanced access to preventive and curative healthcare for the people, particularly the most vulnerable ones.
"Through technology, our dream of providing quality health services will be fulfilled," he said, adding that the provision of universal health coverage is the top priority of the incumbent government, and steps are being taken in this regard.
The prime minister said the potential of technology to reshape healthcare is immense as gene therapy is no longer fiction but a reality.
"Digital technology and artificial intelligence are powerful tools for healthcare providers to ensure diagnosis far quicker than ever," he added.
Underlining the challenges posed by modern technology tools, the prime minister noted that the role of regulations and the government is necessary to counter the challenges, saying instead of containing the change, one should engage with it to use it productively.
