TEHRAN (ANA)- The software for navigation and traffic management was designed and developed by an Iranian knowledge-based company through indigenized technology for geomatics.

Geomatics refers to the methods and technologies used to collect, distribute, store, analyze, process, and present geographic data.

It encompasses the fields of geodesy, geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), hydrography, mapping, photogrammetry, remote sensing, and surveying.

The domestically-made system is aimed at improving productivity and monitoring at road traffic management centers by linking with related monitoring and navigation hardware.

The software has been commercialized with the support of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.

The Iran-made system produced by Orang Pajoohan Parseh Company, enables users to easily operate using professional training on the website in different languages, work with various Iranian and foreign hardware, see the latest status of the car and speed online and the route at any time, see all the systems together or in clusters for a better display.

Some other advantages of the navigation and road management software include reporting the instances of moving and stopping at favorable intervals, registering specifications of cars such as the name of the driver, color and model of the car, and defining allowed and prohibited areas.

Municipalities, road maintenance centers, oil, gas, and petrochemical industries, telecommunication and electricity organizations, and all other people can use the software.

More than 7,000 knowledge-based companies have so far been registered and are now operating across the country.

The companies are mainly active in the fields of biotechnology, agriculture, food, steel, gas, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, oil, electronics, telecommunications, information technology, and computer.

New approaches have been taken to support knowledge-based companies both in terms of quality and quantity in line with realizing the goal of a knowledge-based economy.
