Brazil Sees Record Trade Surplus in First 10 Months

TEHRAN (ANA)- Brazil's trade balance registered a surplus of 80.21 billion U.S. dollars from January to October, a record high for the first 10 months of a year, the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services said.

The figure represents a 57.9-percent increase compared to the same period last year when the surplus amounted to 50.79 billion U.S. dollars.

In October alone, trade balance showed a surplus of 8.96 billion U.S. dollars.

Brazilian Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services Geraldo Alckmin predicted that Brazil's trade balance would end the year with a record surplus of 91 billion U.S. dollars.

According to official data, Brazil's exports this year will total 282.47 billion U.S. dollars, a 0.3 percent daily increase on average compared to last year, while imports will total 202.26 billion U.S. dollars, with a 12.2 percent decline.
