Iran, Belarus to Increase Oil Cooperation by Forming Specialized Working Group
Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for International Affairs and Trade Ahmad Assadzadeh said that Tehran and Minsk have agreed to form a specialized oil, gas and petrochemical working group.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of his meeting with Chairman of Belarus’s Belneftekhim company Andrei Rybakov in Minsk.
Assadzadeh added the two sides also exchanged views on cooperation in the oil industry.
In the past few days, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji and Rybakov had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the oil sector on the sidelines of a meeting between Iranian First Vice-President Mohammad Mokhber and Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.
Based on the MoU, Iran will export technical and engineering services, oil equipment, and petrochemical products to Belarus, and the two countries will cooperate in the technology-related fields and use a barter system to trade.
During his meeting with Golovchenko, Mokhber said the expansion of relations between Tehran and Minsk over the past two years is expected to serve the two nations’ economic and commercial interests, adding that the volume of trade ties between Iran and Belarus could increase to $1 billion.
