The technology of making granules from medicinal plants or CCG is one of the most up-to-date technologies in the world in drug production in which drugs are produced with better quality and effectiveness, and the Iranian company has used the technology to make granules from medicinal plants.

“In our company we have developed the new technology of CCG for production of the raw material of medicinal plants and the final products of medicinal plants,” said Saleh Ramezani, the manager of the project.

“This technology is used in production of the raw material and active ingredient of medicinal plants. We used CCG technology to stabilize and use these materials in industries which make pharmaceutical, supplement and natural products,” he added.

“By using this technology, we brought the dosage of the active herbal ingredient to the standard amount and we removed over 99% of the composition of the granule and the active ingredient by using the CCG technology,” Ramezani said.

Noting that natural and herbal products have a standard dose just like a chemical drug that has a standard dose of the active ingredient, he said that the method allows the physician to make sure of the dosage of the effective ingredient of the herbal products.

“We used and patented this method in the production of saliravira medicine, which has also been registered in Europe (Norway). Also, we used this technology on various types of medicinal plants that are widely used in Iran and the world like black seed, ginger, willow, olive leaf, lavender, chamomile and Echinacea,” Ramezani said.

Figures in April showed that Iran has exported more than $660 million worth of herbal medicines in recent years.

As a vast country with different climates, Iran is a suitable place for planting and growing different types of herbs, a report by the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology says, adding that as statistics show currently, about 90% of medicinal herbs are grown inside the country.
