Iranian Company Produces Special Gel for Electroencephalogram Test

TEHRAN (ANA)- Researchers of a knowledge-based company in Iran succeeded in making a conductive gel used to record bioelectrical signals from the patient's skin like the electroencephalogram (EEG) tests.

“Our company was founded with the aim of designing, manufacturing and providing diagnostic devices with applications in the fields of neurology, psychiatry, neuroscience, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and it took long strides towards making these products with research on production of different types of gels needed to perform tests like EEG, NCV, SCV, EP, PSG, neurofeedback, biofeedback, etc.,” said Saeed Bahreyni, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.

“Our first knowledge-based product is EEG gel which is a conductive gel with a specific viscosity used to record bioelectrical signals from the patient's skin. This gel is usually used for recording electroencephalographic (EEG) signals by using Easy Cap,” he added.

Bahreyni also pointed to another knowledge-based product of the company, named Teson, saying, “It is a sticky and electrically-conductive paste used to stick permanent electrodes to the patient's skin. It reduces the impedance between skin and the stability electrode and improves the quality of signals received from the patient.”

An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test that measures electrical activity in the brain using small, metal discs (electrodes) attached to the scalp.

Brain cells communicate via electrical impulses and are active all the time, even during asleep.
